The song begins with the words.
Craig L. DeLue is the lyricist and creator behind Saber Jets. The catalog — albums, lyrics, members — lives on the band site.
Saber Jets
A lyric-driven virtual band. Stories about knowledge and rust, winter and leaving, the life you have and the one you keep rehearsing in your head. Four fictional performers. Ten tracks on the first songbook.
How Craig works
For Craig, the song begins with the words. The lyrics carry the story: relationships, desire, regret, obsession, aging, resilience, happiness, and the complicated distance between the life people have and the life they imagined.
After retiring from a career as a small business owner, he returned to writing. By his own admission he is “musically challenged,” and he does not create the music or vocals himself. Generative music tools gave him a way to write lyrics and turn them into fully realized songs. Many Saber Jets songs go through dozens of versions as he searches for the phrasing, arrangement, tempo, vocal character, and emotional delivery that make the lyrics work.
He also shapes the broader Saber Jets world — the fictional lives of the band members, the imagery, and the visual identity — while keeping the words and the stories at the center.
Two listings, on purpose
Song Book I the book is out now. It is the written companion: lyrics plus the explanations behind them. Buy it on Amazon.
Song Book I the album is already structured on SaberJets.com, with a page for every track.
A visitor who wants a book should not land in a lyric archive. A listener who wants a songbook should not have to hunt through book blurbs. Cross-links only. Catalogs stay separate.
